A true "pony tail"

My morning started the same way it usually does--hop out of bed, shower, dress, go to work. It wasn't until I pulled into my parking spot and turned off my car that something wonderful happened....I spotted a delightfully large and incredibly ratted version of what is affectionately referred to as "Utah hair." Now I admit, its become harder and harder to find true Utah hair, unless of course you live in West Valley where Utah hair still runs rampant. For you out-of-staters, I'll back up. The tell-tail sign of Utah hair is hair ratted to death-defying heights and securely kept in place by a minimum of 2lbs hairspray. If you can see light peaking through inches of meticulously sprayed hair, you can be sure you're witness to Utah hair. Of course, equal parts must be slicked to the crown of the head in order to capture true Utah form.

The morning I spotted Utah hair in my parking lot, I realized the joy must be shared. And I decided not to miss another opportunity to share the poofing and the spraying that makes our beautiful state so unique. So as my friend T and I sat at our local pool hall the other night, I insisted she snap a picture of girl you see here. Its a beautiful thing.

I hope you'll join me in my pursuit of Utah hair and send me picks to post to this blog.
